After almost a week of sunny and warm weather, we had some rain yesterday. But I guess even rain can be beautiful when it is a portent of the beauty to come...
Spring is my favorite season, rain or shine. I am happy. :)
It's official -- spring has sprung here in New Jersey. We had about 1 1/2" of rain yesterday. But toward late afternoon, the sun came out and this little crocus just glowed. Don't you love it when that happens? ;)
I warned you there would be more. Autumn Crocus bursting forth earlier in the month. I guess if I had been thinking, I would have posted this picture first. The others are here, here and here.
I seem to be quite as fascinated by these Autumn Crocus as I was by some coneflowers earlier in the year. This is probably the third or fourth photo I've posted of them.
And you will be seeing more in the near future. Just warning you.
"I said to myself, I have things in my head that are not like what anyone else has taught me -- shapes and ideas so near to me -- so natural to my way of being and thinking that it hasn't occurred to me to put them down. I decided to start anew, to strip away what I have been taught."
I can't believe I actually grew these in my garden. Of course, I can't really take any credit for them. All I did was plant them, and then forget them. Literally. I did not remember they were there, and was very surprised when they popped up this fall. :)
