winter dreams

I promised you supermarket flowers, didn't I? White carnations, with the faint scent of cloves. Can you smell them? ;)

Texture by Sarah Gardner. There is still time to join her texture giveaway and donate to a wonderful cause. Check it out here.

winter tulips

I'm loving Kristybee's Nodding Violet Actions lately. If you use Photoshop, go check them out. They are subtle yet beautiful, and work well on many different images. I used Pink Cotton Candy here, and then added one of Sarah Gardner's textures called Shabby III.

Tulips courtesy of my wonderful husband. Thanks, honey!

i still ♥ mist

Still playing with mist and textures today. This is one from my archives. I've been shooting the beautiful colors of our sugar maple, but somehow this just feels like a more accurate representation of how I'm feeling on the inside at the moment. Does that make sense?

courage

sometimes a girl just needs some flowers

Dear Self,

Just a little reminder here, for when you begin to feel small:

You are unique.
You are talented.
Don't judge your work against others' work; judge it against your own.
Strive to be the best person you can.
God sees your true self, buried under your own harsh self-judgement.
God loves you.

xoxo,
Me

places of the heart

There is something so very satisfying about the sight of hay bales in a field, especially as the sun slips down. They are sculptural and beautiful in and of themselves, but I think it must be the feeling of satisfaction at a job well done, and security in the knowledge of a full barn come winter... And this is an almost iconic scene for me, too. It is about a mile from my house, and one of the places from my childhood that lives in my heart.
