in the deep heart's core

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet’s wings.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core.
The Lake Isle of Innisfree

Soft Yellow

As much as I love the pinks and creams of the more well-known foxglove, Digitalis purpurea, I just don't have the time or talent to grow them from seed every year or two. Instead, I have this perennial foxglove, Digitalis ambigua grandiflora. It's not as tall or showy as the more traditional cottage garden flower, but it is much more easy going.

In fact, it self-seeds prodigiously, filling my garden with these beautiful, creamy yellow spires. Oh how I love a flower that is so easy. ;)

Foxglove

One from the archives today.  The painter is coming to do the kitchen and the master bedroom, and everything is at sixes and sevens here.  Happy Thursday!  :)

Unfurl

Sunshine usually makes me feel the same way -- ready to unfurl, to turn my face up to the light.  I am still on vacation, and autoposting.  Thanks for your visit, and I will catch up with everyone next week!

Bright Lights, Big City

Somehow this lonely little foxglove seems to glow in the slanting sunlight of late afternoon...
