i need somebody...

This image was shot at my favorite park, Natirar, before the snows came this winter. I discovered it while trolling through my files early this morning. (What do you do when you can't sleep? I play with Photoshop.)

I ran a Florabella action on it, and added two textures -- one from Kim Klassen and one from Shadowhouse. And I was happy.

But then, I couldn't leave well enough alone, so I tried out a square crop and added a color fill layer. And now I can't decide which one I like better.

Help.

i agree, either work well but my favorite is the 2nd - it gives the view a bit of majesty to see it wider whereas the 1st is more intimate.

Mary, either crop works for me. I almost like the rectangle better because of the trees trailing off to the right. What I think would really make the photo pop is a aqua blue fill layer masked off the bottom. The sky would be so gorgeous with a little more blue.

Beautiful plays!

I am partial to the square crop, similar to a medium format negative......very hip! Oh, and love the images top!

Both shots are beautiful and I love the way you worked through their presentation. I am learning PSE9 right now and have finally gotten up enough nerve to post a bit of what I am doing. What you did in these 2 shots and what I like are so similar. Look at my Skywatch Friday this week and my Daily Photo for 2-12-11, and you will see what I am talking about. Maybe one of these day I will catch up with you pros. I have had only 4 classes so have a LONG ways to go. Have a great weekend with your camera and PS.

I will be no help, they are both fabulous, I pondered and pondered. The bottom line, they are both beyond pleasing! Thanks for your wonderful blog!

I love the beauty in bare trees! I think I like the second one best just for the expansive, solitary feel it adds.

First one. Love the crop. Fits the tree.

Gorgeous!

I have gone back and forth between the two photos several times Mary...and tonight I prefer the second, wider angle photo...It gives the tree some scale and some majesty to the scene. I could possibly change my mind tomorrow:)

I do this to myself all the time! I often have a terrible time deciding between two photos.. It is nice to have other opinions...

Hi Mary. They're both beautiful images but I have to say the landscape one is my preference. I think the extra space adds to the message and is more intriguing.

But, that's just opinion! Thanks for asking for mine. xo

Th crop is definitely more interesting to me. Maybe that makes me a square--but it's different--that make it enchanting.
