amen

What do you call the little green leaves at the bottom of a blossom? The sepals? On queen anne's lace they are so delicate, especially for something that is supposed to protect the bud from harm... I have to say that I find them very beautiful, perhaps more so than the flowers themselves. And who doesn't love a bit of sun flare? Can I get an "amen" for sun flare and sepals? ;)

lace

You had to know that I couldn't get through an entire summer without at least one queen anne's lace photo. I am fascinated by the details in these flowers, and the way they turn in upon themselves, as if they had a secret to hold close...

deep within

OK, I'm back to the queen anne's lace for the next few days... I'm hoping you will bear with me for another week or so. This compulsion comes from somewhere deep within.

And doesn't that sound silly?! :)

Yup, still here and still fascinated. But it's almost over -- I promise. ;)

a passing fancy

It's funny how something just grabs you, inspiration-wise, isn't it? I just can't seem to get away from these queen anne's lace... I think it's the internal architecture -- the series of umbelliferous struts -- that really fascinates me. They are such a common flower, but so very complex.

And I like that. :)

forevermore

More queen anne's lace. These things are just so darn photogenic. lol

I just got back from a week down the shore so I should have something other than queen anne's lace for you soon. :)

restful

I've been taking it easy the past few days... working on some portrait photography for my portfolio, and still shooting queen anne's lace for fun.

August seems like a good time to take things slowly, right? To savor the summer (even when it's unbearably hot) and just be, well, restful...

Have a wonderful, restful weekend, dear bloggers! :)

unfolding light

Just another in my series of queen anne's lace. And I love me a little backlighting, too. :)

Have a wonderful weekend, dear bloggers.

dreamy

Queen Anne's Lace is one of those flowers that look great in all the stages of it's growth -- from the buds that slowly unfold, to the lacy white flower heads, to the seed heads all folded in on themselves. Even the lacy foliage is beautiful.

And they grow wild all along the edges of the roads around my home. What more could a girl ask for? ;)

Fascination

I am still fascinated by queen anne's lace. Sorry, I'm sure I'll find something else to be fascinated by soon. ;)

Out of the Ordinary

Oh goodness, I don't even know what to say about this, except that when you let go of your preconceived notions, and look at the ordinary from a completely different point of view, wonderful things appear. :)

Growing

"One thing at a time, all things in succession. That which grows slowly endures."
