long shadows

We were walking at our favorite park, Natirar on Friday at dusk, and I loved the way the long shadows fell across the open hillside. I'm thinking about doing a 365 here next year, or maybe a 52... :)

For something a little different, I'm entering this photo in the June contest at Greeblemonkey. Go check out all the great entries!

You just cannot beat the light at dawn and dusk.

I think a 52 is a good idea. I'd buy a calendar with your Natirar photos. They are so beautiful, Mary.

Dear Mary, I've been enjoying your photographs so much for the last month (or 2? when did I find you?). I'm not an art or photography expert but I can see. =] Your photography is inspiring and challenging for me. How did you become a photographer? Did you go to school or did you read a book or a you just one of those wonderfully gifted naturals??? It's the capturing light thing. I have nooooo idea what I'm doing. (Okay, a little bit of an idea.) I have ALWAYS wanted to be a photographer but always felt like it would be too expensive (back in the film days) and too complicated. The digital age has given me hope! Sooooo, I'm not expecting to be in art galleries or anything (haha =]) but I do want to know how to improve. I just love it and want to do more. Now, I have this new camera and know that I have to practice and learn this instrument and I'm struggling to keep observing and just LOOKING at what's in front of me instead of just clicking away. Do you have time (I cringe) to throw any pointers my way - even if it's just to point me in a direction? A book that you'd recommend? (I've noticed that there are a plethora of books on photography - half of which, the examples of their work are terrible.)

Aaaaaaaaaanyway, I JUST missed boot camp! Waaaaa! I see that something new is starting up and I will be there with bells on, Lord willing!

Thanks, Mary! Just, whatever.....no fret if you don't have time to respond.

With appreciation, Katy

Gorgeous Mary...I say do a 52. I tried the 365...it was a lot of pressure. I canned the idea a few weeks back. Either way, I will love what you publish!

Laughing at what you wrote in your profile.
When I was little I wanted to be a jockey, but was too tall by the time I was 12, then I wanted to be a model since I topped out at almost 6 feet tall.
Funny to read it in someone else's profile.
