Leaf Litter

We had some wind over the past few days, and the Norway Maple in our back yard lost all it's leaves, leaving the deck ankle-deep in gold. It's also been very rainy. Sunday afternoon the sun finally decided to come out a little. We bundled up and sat on the deck, surrounded by leaf litter four inches deep. And that wonderful, leafy autumn smell. :)

Have a happy week, dear bloggers!

What a wonderful image, "ankle-deep in gold"! And leaf litter is a great phrase, in my mind I never connect it with the other kind of litter. The leaf kind is a treat to see, and smell and shuffle through.

I have to admit. I still like to kick up the leaves when I walk through a big pile like this.

There are so many leaves laying on the ground. They crunch under my feet.

But don't the leaves sound wonderful when you drag your feet through them, and kick them around???

Sad to see them go, I am not ready for winter.

...mmm...can almost sell the earthy scent through the screen...love that scent! Someone should make a perfume of it! ;o) The leaves are all but gone here already... Happy Day, Mary!
