The rhododendron in front of our house are blooming like mad this year. I guess all that rain earlier in the season was good for something... :)
I find them rather hard to photograph. All my images tend to come out looking like big pink blobs. I think I like the focus on the stamens here, though... or is it pistils? Actually, I think I need to take biology class over again. lol

I think this turned out quite nice!! You did well by focusing on the stamens... you really are so good at this macro photography... I will need to learn this one day!
Hugs♥
The front part of the stamen looks like a tiny pink wish-bone. I wish I could take pictures like that!
Exquisite detail and color. Aren't these blossoms absolutely luscious?!??!
An amazing photo Mary. Oh what a talent you have. Pink Explosion describes it beautifully.

maybe it is just too much pink for your camera!!
Looks lovely, you did a great job.
The absolute most difficult for digital cameras are the deep crimson, or magenta ones. At least I can't figure out how to get much of anything out of the camera with those colors. Anyone have any tips please, let me know.

Hi again, came back to see your lovely blogs, and now I'm stalking - I mean following you.
I agree, the focal points help soften all the pink.
my photography instructor always said if you're photographing flowers and the stamens are visible, they must be in focus.
beautiful pink
Pistil-schmistal...they're gorgeous!!
ah yes, the elusive too-much-pink or -red all in one place! i, too, have difficulties with these! i tried to photograph my mom's last week, and it just didn't look like much at all... but yours is quite lovely! :)
I think you are looking at the stamen. Pistols are the female part which grow into fruit. Always remember the old song...pistil packing mama.
Great photography and hardly a pink blob.
You make me want to be a better photographer... stunning.
You take the most wonderful photos! I always look forward to visiting you! And this is nowhere near an explosion in pink!
