Swirl

Sometimes I think the prettiest stage of hosta growth is the beginning.  The birth.  The swirl of unfurling leaves.

How's that for an internal rhyme?  ;)

I think one of the greatest advantages of carrying a camera is that it teaches you to really see.  To look from new perspectives, and to see new and beautiful worlds in the smallest of details.

What new worlds have you discovered lately?

Great post. And, I agree with you about both the carrying of a camera and the prettiest stage of a hosta. They have their purpose but full grown they are not my very favorite. However, at this time of year when they are just unfurling from the ground they hold their certain promise.
I love seeing your new pictures every morning.

Exquisite detail. Love the color and shallow dof. You're a little ahead of us. No hostas coming up just yet!!!

Wow, that really is a gorgeous view and the colours are so fresh, too.

I agree. Carrying a camera with me has definitely made me more aware of my surroundings.

Your hosta are WAY ahead of mine. ;-)

My latest "new world" is a small deciduous forest filled with gorgeous spring wildflowers. I'm discovering tiny blossoms.

That is a perfect, beautiful swirl (and I love the rhyme!). There's something cosmic and musical about it, too.

I agree. Doing the type of work that you do forces you to see things differently than us mortals. Wonderful shot.

I love all the references you make in this post. I also feel photography has taught me to see, notice things I may have walked on by and is a great teacher in mindfulness. What a beautifully written post.

My prayer plant looks similar to this. I've tried to click a similar image but can't get it anywhere close to as gorgeous as this!

Oh, I love green! I almost went for all greenery instead of flowers at my wedding. Yeah, I know. So I went with white flowers. Still... love green.

i agree, the swirls are delightful. I won't be seeing mine for another month probably but that's ok, my coral bells are starting to come up and those are wonderful as well. A macros lens is fun to play with, most definitely.

i agree. every year i am excited to see the hostas unfurling. the plant amazes me - it seems to appear overnight from underneath the earth. they're like a green flowers in the landscape.
