My daughter got her license a few weeks ago, and has been driving herself to school every morning in her brother's car (he's away at college). The night before I took this shot, she asked me if I would drive her, because she has to park far away and walk, and it was going to be very cold. So I was awake at 7am to see this glorious sight, right outside my front door.
So I guess there are some rewards for being a good mom after all. ;)

Mary: Neat story and a very red sunrise as a reward.
Beautiful color on this photo. Dramatic!
what an amazing start to your day. this is an outstanding capture.
It's wonderful to share moments like that with your children, grown but not grown. Beautiful sky for Katie.
Love it.
Love the vibrant colours, and the silhouettes of the trees!
Thanks for sharing!
PS - Love the shots before this, as well!
Absolutely perfect! The most beautiful photo I've seen on this week's SWF until now! Have a great week-end!
Fantastic picture Mary. Thank you for passing on your gift to us too. Have a good weekend.
Beautiful sunrise shot, we don't get to see to many of those. Lucky for you that your daughter wanted a ride
We have the same concept only different colors, love the redness so much!
Thanks for your visit! -ViennaDaily
Gorgeous sky!
Very nice photos on your blog!
I just visited my daughter in Washington. She turned 16 and has her permit. It was strange to be in the passenger's seat with my youngest at the wheel. She's a good driver.
Great colors. Don't you just love the sunrise? Especially when it's red...oh, "red sky in the morning...sailor's warning"
This is my first visit to your blog. What lovely photographs. Thank you for a great experience. Happy SWF!
Fire
in the sky,
branches burning
till the morning sun
ignites
and clouds
burn away.
So beautiful!
Early mornings are often rewarding. Beautiful sky, beautifully photographed.
This is stunning, as are all your other shots. I love how you take the time to find the perfect name for each one.
Ah, so many rewards for being a good mom. Thanks for sharing this one with us.
How lucky were you to get to watch mother nature painting all over the sky. Thanks for sharing with everyone in sky watch Friday.
Doesn't the reward system work beautifully! You do something nice for your daughter where you have to exert yourself and get up early and you instrantly get such a superb sunrise as a reward!
beautiful reward indeed. what a fantastic shot
amazing colors! wow!
Right out your front door - you can't ask for much more than that!
Beautiful!
No retouching program can give such a wonderful image! Great shot!
Enjoy Sky Watch!
The best shots are often found not far away
getting a great photo can be the bonus from fulfilling a chore.
Sometimes it pays to get up early, doesn't it? Lovely colours.

Glorious sunrises make it worthwhile getting up early!
I laughed at your last sentence! I'm glad one reward was visible to you... and us. Incredible, really wonderful shot!
Wow! Beautiful! Certainly worth getting up early to see!
That's gorgeous! Good for you for getting up so early AND stepping out into the cold!
Lovely view! Such pretty colors.
"Glorious" is the right word for it. The colors are wonderful.
One of the things I like best about sunrises is that they reward you for being up that early. :)
Brilliant cloud textures and colour glows! Great shot!
Beautiful! Happy SWF!!
Thanks for sharing your good-mom reward with us. That's an awesome sky!
Absolutely gorgeous, Mary! Hmm...your daughter has a very kind older brother, to allow her to use his car. Happy SkyWatching!
