This is a small wildflower garden about a mile from my home. A patch of flowers, really, surrounding a bench at the side of the road. Question: why do the deer leave this bee balm alone, and yet eat the heads off every single one of mine? Inquiring minds want to know.

I think it's because they're creatures of habit. Have you noticed that they take the same paths day in and day out? Year in and year out? When I drive home, I see them cutting across the road at the exact same spots.
Apparently, your flowers seem to be on one of their regularly taken routes!

I love wildflowers. I'm planning a jaunt to Longwood Gardens in DE this weekend to photograph the meadow. The time is perfect for the wildflowers and the thousands of butterflies that descend upon the meadow.

This wild arrangement looks so good. Mother Nature knows what she is doing. For the deers, they probably won't destroy their pretty place and think we go over there...

I love wild flowers, and my deer and rabbits eat everything I try and plant too!
